Do not be fooled by the two prominent ladies on the cover; one of them goes into seclusion for Reasons after book 1, and the other never wanted to be here in the first place (she picked the wrong night to give RPGs a try) and is mostly shoved into the background as Supporto-Lady, while the male main character has a lot of manpain, and carries the weight of the world on his shoulders no matter how many other friends he has to help him.
